Aleksandra Filipović graduated French language and literature from the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade, with English as a second language. During her studies she has spent one year in Paris as an au-pair in a French host family. Aleksandra gained valuable experience with the help of her host family and by attending a language course. She has been a French and English teacher in schools in Belgrade for several years. Although Aleksandra’s teaching is a vocation, her aim is to transmit her love of French language and culture. She enjoys working with children and is very passionate about building a positive attitude in her students to inspire them to become lifelong learners. Aleksandra loves sports, cinema, nature. Her advice for language learners is: “A different language is a different vision of life” as said by Federico Fellini. Aleksandra is from Montenegro.

Her former schools describe Caitlin as an outstanding, highly-reflective classroom teacher and leader who possesses excellent classroom management skills, enthusiasm, and dedication. She values lifelong learning and strives to create an interactive, student-centred learning environment that stimulates motivation and student agency, allowing students to grow academically, socially, and personally.  Originally from Ohio, USA, Caitlin holds a BA from her home state, a Teaching Degree from South Africa, and an MA in Education (with a specialisation in Multilingual Learning) from the University of Hawaii, USA. Her qualifications reflect her extensive international teaching experience, which has taken her to international schools in Surabaya (Indonesia), Vung Tau (Vietnam), and Cape Town (South Africa).  Caitlin places a high value on sports and physical activity, believing they help build a sense of teamwork in students. Her strong dedication to and pride in her work make her eager to continue educating others and creating lifelong learners at KSIM.  She will be making the move to Tivat, and joining KSIM, with her husband, Reuben, a Business Management and Humanities teacher.

KSIM is delighted to introduce Cesar Valera as our MYP Physical & Health Education (PHE) and DP Sports, Exercise and Health Science (SEHS) Teacher.  Cesar brings over two decades of global experience in coaching, athletic program leadership, and physical education.

Originally from Venezuela and currently based in Northern California, Cesar has spent the last several years as the Endurance Sports Programme Manager and Head Coach at Cañada College. There, he has led inclusive, high-impact training programmes that help athletes of all levels understand the science behind human performance and achieve their goals. His extensive coaching career has included working with youth, collegiate athletes, and adults, consistently earning praise for his calm leadership, thoughtful communication, and ability to motivate others through a balanced, evidence-based approach.

Cesar’s journey to education is rooted in his elite athletic background. A former professional triathlete and endurance cyclist, he has competed internationally, earning podium finishes and age-group victories in Ironman-distance triathlons. In 2022, he completed the 3,000-mile Race Across America and placed second overall at the 12-Hour Cycling World Time Trial Championships. His accomplishments not only reflect his discipline and resilience but also serve as a powerful inspiration for his students.

A lifelong learner himself, Cesar’s teaching is grounded in sports physiology, wellness science, and a belief in promoting lifelong physical activity. Whether in a classroom or on the field, he emphasises the development of self-awareness, healthy habits, and a growth mindset in his students.  Cesar is described by former colleagues as an “exceptionally gifted teacher” with an “unparalleled work ethic” and a “unique ability to nurture and challenge students.” His leadership in coaching over 100 athletes for endurance events, including Ironman competitions, is matched by his reputation for kindness, high moral character, and unwavering professionalism. He is celebrated for his creative thinking, inclusive teaching practices, and ability to connect with learners of all ages and backgrounds.

Multilingual, multicultural, and passionate about international education, Cesar is eager to contribute to our whole community. Outside of school, he enjoys swimming, cycling, running, tennis, and exploring the outdoors with his family. As a parent and educator, he is especially committed to helping young people cultivate a positive relationship with physical fitness, sport, and overall well-being.  We are delighted to have Cesar join our team and look forward to the energy, experience, and insight he will bring to our physical education, health and sports programme.

We are delighted to introduce Erika Malikova, our PYP & MYP Music Teacher. Originally from Slovakia, Erika brings over 20 years of diverse teaching experience and a deep passion for music education that inspires creativity, confidence, and joy in her students. In addition to her teaching credentials, Erika holds a Master’s degree in Music Theory from the University of Performing Arts in Bratislava and studied piano as her major at the Conservatory in Košice. Her musical journey has taken her across both local and international settings, including international schools in schools in Bratislava and London.  These experiences have shaped her into a reflective, globally-minded educator with a firm belief in music as a transformative force in students’ lives.

Driven by a lifelong curiosity and love for learning, Erika creates engaging, inclusive lessons that not only develop musical skills but also nurture empathy, creativity, and self-expression. Her classroom is known as a space where students feel safe to explore, take risks, and express themselves freely. Colleagues describe her as an organised, patient, and passionate educator who brings energy, warmth, and dedication to everything she does.  Beyond her core music teaching responsibilities, Erika has consistently gone above and beyond to support the school community. She has organised school-wide musical events, led performances and productions, and offered additional support through extra lessons and co-curricular activities. 

Erika’s current and former leaders and colleagues have praised her commitment, natural leadership in the classroom, and collaborative spirit across departments.  Students and parents alike value Erika for her ability to make music a source of joy and self-discovery. As one parent shared, “Music lessons with Miss Erika are where my child experiences joy, emotions, and no fear of failure.” Her rapport with students is strong and genuine, helping them to thrive both musically and personally.

Erika’s personal journey from her childhood in Eastern Slovakia to her professional life in international education is a testament to her determination, resilience, and openness to new experiences. Now, moving to Montenegro represents a long-held dream – living by the sea and immersing herself in a new culture. She is eager to explore the natural beauty and history of her new home, accompanied by her beloved cocker spaniel, Sandra, and looks forward to hiking, swimming, and skiing whenever she has the chance.  

We are delighted to introduce Jack Ballard to our MYP English and Individuals & Societies Teacher. Originally from the United States, Jack brings a unique blend of industry expertise, global experience, and a deep passion for student-centred learning. His path to education is both inspiring and impactful – following a decade in the software industry as a trainer, team leader, and technical specialist, Jack transitioned into teaching and international education, where he has quickly established himself as a reflective, engaging, and adaptable educator.

Jack holds a Bachelor’s degree in Media and Communication Technology, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a Master of Science in Teaching and Learning. He also has experience teaching and supporting learners in China and Colombia. His teaching journey has included roles such as English Language Support Teacher, IB/DP Business Management, and middle school History and Geography.  At the core of Jack’s teaching philosophy is a belief in making learning meaningful and relevant. He encourages students to explore real-world problems through inquiry and application – whether that’s developing marketing plans, engaging in historical case studies, or investigating global issues in geography. Jack strives to connect students’ learning to their interests, lived experiences, and aspirations, helping them grow as confident, thoughtful, and globally-minded individuals.

During the interview process, Jack’s former leaders and colleagues have praised him as an exceptional and dedicated educator, with a particular strength in flexibility and responsiveness. As one former principal noted, “Jack has consistently demonstrated his ability to adapt to changing circumstances and adjust his teaching methods accordingly. Whether faced with a last-minute change in lesson plans or a student’s unexpected absence, Jack could adjust his approach and ensure that learning continued uninterrupted seamlessly.” His ability to collaborate across teams and support diverse learners has also been highlighted and shown him to be a valuable asset in every setting he has worked in.

Beyond the classroom, Jack is a passionate traveler who has visited over 40 countries across six continents. He enjoys hiking, swimming, scuba diving, kayaking, and is eager to continue exploring the natural beauty of Montenegro. He also loves board games, video games, and reading – a well-rounded adventurer and lifelong learner who brings curiosity and energy to everything he does.  We are excited to have Jack join the KSIM community and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our students and school culture.

KSIM is delighted to introduce and welcome Jessica Valera to our community as a MYP and DP Science and I&S Teacher and our CAS Coordinator. Originally from California, USA, Jessica brings over two decades of rich experience as an international and IB educator. She has most recently taught IB Science, Environmental Science, and interdisciplinary courses in Caracas, Venezuela and most recently in Northern California, where she served diverse student populations.

Jessica is a passionate advocate for environmental stewardship and sustainability education. She is excited to bring IB Environmental Systems and Societies to the KSIM Diploma Programme for the first time, where she will continue her commitment to hands-on, inquiry-driven learning that connects students to real-world issues. Her classroom practice is grounded in cultivating meaningful, experiential learning – whether that’s creating a community garden on campus, removing invasive species with students in the Galapagos Islands, or leading ecological research projects. She is deeply committed to fostering inclusive, student-centred environments that empower learners to explore global challenges through interdisciplinary study.

In addition to her work in the classroom, Jessica has held a variety of leadership roles, including Instructional Coach, Science Department Head, Technology Coordinator, and Professional Development Facilitator. She has presented at education conferences in Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, and the United States, sharing her expertise on equitable assessment, instructional technology, and culturally responsive teaching. In her former schools, colleagues consistently highlight her as a visionary technologist, effective instructional leader, and principled educator with a deep commitment to equity and inclusion.  Through the recruitment process, Jessica’s work was described as transformative by former leaders and colleagues alike. She is known for her reflective, data-driven approach to instruction, her collaborative leadership style, and her dedication to empowering both students and teachers. Her efforts have been instrumental in developing anti-racist instructional frameworks, designing equitable assessment systems, and supporting the integration of humanising pedagogy with innovative technology practices.

Jessica joins KSIM alongside her husband, who will be teaching MYP PE and DP Sports, Exercise & Health Science, and their three children. As an active family who loves the outdoors, they are looking forward to exploring the region’s beaches and trails. An avid swimmer, Jessica is especially excited to take to the waters of the bay.  We are delighted to have Jessica become part of our team and look forward to the energy, expertise, and heart she brings to the KSIM community.

We are absolutely delighted to re-introduce, and welcome back, a familiar and much-loved face to our community – Katrina Bullemor, who returns to us after two years teaching in her native Australia. Katrina was a core part of our school from 2018 to 2023, serving with distinction as our Year 3 and 4 class teacher and returning to KSIM as a Year 5 PYP classroom teacher. Her warmth, professionalism, and deep commitment to student growth made a lasting impact on students, families, and colleagues alike.

Prior to her most recent experience back in Australia, Katrina had already built an impressive teaching career spanning over 15 years, with roles in international schools across Australia, England, Spain, Dubai, Indonesia, and of course, her previous five years with us. Her global teaching journey reflects not only a wealth of experience, but also a deep understanding of multicultural classrooms and a passion for inclusive, differentiated learning.

Katrina brings to her classroom a specialised strength in teaching English to Bilingual and Multilingual students, developed through years of working with students at various stages of language acquisition, where she employed a wide array of strategies to support both language development and curriculum access.  She has held both classroom and BML teaching roles, worked across age ranges from 4 to 17, and is well-versed in the IB PYP approach, designing inquiry-based learning experiences that inspire curiosity and independence.  Her classroom is a lively, engaging space where students feel supported, challenged, and seen. Colleagues and school leaders from across the world speak to her excellence as an educator: “organised and well prepared,” “lively and positive,” “deeply caring but with high standards,” and “a team enthusiast who goes the extra mile.” One former head of school summarised her impact beautifully: “She quickly established harmony with a ‘learning buzz’ – it’s part of who she is.”

During her years with us at KSIM, Katrina’s ability to build strong relationships, differentiate instruction, and foster student wellbeing left a profound mark. She created a cohesive learning community and was a pillar of optimism and resilience, especially during transitional moments between 2020 and 2023.. Whether guiding overnight trips, mentoring colleagues, or supporting students’ social-emotional needs, Katrina’s dedication never wavered.

Her return to KSIM is not just a homecoming, but a reinvigoration of the caring, collaborative spirit we value in our teaching team. With her thoughtful, student-centred approach and her commitment to excellence, Katrina is sure to once again be a tremendous asset to our school community.

We are delighted to introduce Kseniia Lishchenko, our Visual Arts, and Design and Media Arts teacher. Originally from Ukraine, Kseniia brings a rich background in international education, having taught in prominent schools in Kyiv and Berlin. With a deep commitment to creative learning and cultural exploration, she joins KSIM with a passion for fostering artistic expression and inquiry-based learning in students of all ages.

Kseniia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and a Specialist degree in Economics, complemented by formal teaching qualifications focused on international curricula, including the IB Diploma Programme. Her educational philosophy centres on creating a meaningful, student-centred environment where creativity is not only encouraged but used as a tool for self-discovery, social connection, and critical engagement with the world. She designs learning experiences that empower students to explore their identities, build confidence, and take creative risks.

Throughout her career, Kseniia has demonstrated exceptional dedication to nurturing student talent and guiding them through both the technical and emotional aspects of the creative process. She is recognised by her colleagues for her highly organised, scaffolded approach to curriculum design, her in-depth knowledge of the IB DP Visual Arts framework, and her ability to create inclusive, inspiring classroom environments. One colleague described her as “the spirit of our school,” and another commended her “remarkable dedication to sustainability and lifelong learning.”  In addition to her teaching, Kseniia has played a key leadership role in the art department, managing art studios, mentoring staff, and organising workshops and school-wide exhibitions.  Colleagues and school leaders alike have highlighted her adaptability, positive mindset, and eagerness to engage fully with the school community. She is described as receptive to feedback, open to new challenges, and deeply committed to continuous professional growth.

Outside the classroom, Kseniia is a passionate artist herself, enjoying watercolour and acrylic painting, graphic design, weaving, embroidery, and ceramics. She is also a musician—singing and playing both guitar and drums – and enjoys spending time in nature hiking, cycling, and exploring new cultures through history and architecture.  Kseniia is also excited to connect with local artists, discover the region’s natural and cultural beauty, and bring new inspirations into her teaching practice. 

Marija graduated from the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade after which she started gaining experience teaching English language to young learners. For five years Marija was a key member of the teaching staff in local elementary schools before she joined the team of KSI Montenegro in 2010, when the school was founded. Marija has dedicated herself to creating a positive and inspiring classroom environment. She loves supporting children’s creativity and imagination, making school an exciting place for all learners. She strongly believes in lifelong learning and personal growth. Besides teaching, Marija is an experienced translator and interpreter. She loves passing her passion for language and literature to her learners, being a voracious reader. She also enjoys writing for pleasure, painting, drawing, arts and crafts and above all being a mother to her two daughters.

In addition to being a qualified and experienced primary school teacher, Maryam is an illustrator with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Illustration from Middlesex University, London, England. She specialises in children’s picture books and cover art for chapter books, having completed picture book illustrations for several clients. Born and raised in London with a multiracial background (half Mauritian and half English), Maryam is a strong advocate for representing minority backgrounds in picture books. She loves illustrating diverse and multiracial characters, reflecting her own heritage. Between 2015 and 2021, Maryam taught at two international schools in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, but prior to and since working in schools internationally, she has also taught at schools in London.  Maryam is passionate about working with children and parents to provide creative learning opportunities through art, yoga, helicopter storytelling, and outdoor learning experiences. When she’s not teaching or illustrating, Maryam enjoys taking walks, attending yoga classes, or diving into a wonderful book with a good cup of tea!

We are delighted to introduce Milo Kruppa as our MYP and DP Mathematics teacher, who will work with students from Year 9 and up. Originally from the United States, Milo brings a rich and diverse professional background to his teaching, having lived and worked on three continents over, with international teaching experience in China and Colombia. His career began in engineering and business strategy at Ford Motor Company, where he worked globally as a mechanical engineer and strategist. During this time, he earned both a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA.  It was during his tenure at Ford that Milo discovered a deep passion for education, ultimately prompting a career shift and the pursuit of a Master’s in Teaching and Learning. Since then, he has developed a reputation as an empathetic, dynamic, and inquiry-driven educator. His teaching philosophy merges his analytical background with his creative passion, to design engaging and real-world project-based learning experiences that inspire students and make mathematics both accessible and meaningful.

Colleagues and school leaders consistently highlight Milo’s calm, kind demeanour and positively infectious attitude, which fosters a warm, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment. Previous schools share that students frequently describe his lessons as enjoyable and impactful, and that his balanced approach – combining rigorous academic expectations with genuine care for student well-being – has made him a valued educator and mentor. His natural gifts of empathy, enthusiasm, and reflection, coupled with his proactive efforts to provide supportive feedback, have earned him the respect and admiration of both students and colleagues at his previous schools.

Outside the classroom, Milo leads an adventurous and active life. Along with his partner and two well-traveled cats, Digit and Quill, he is excited to begin a new chapter in Montenegro. He is an avid runner and hiker – having completed half marathons in multiple countries and trekked through the Himalayas, Guatemalan volcanoes, and Tibetan monasteries. He also enjoys scuba diving, yoga, reading, and board games, and looks forward to exploring the natural beauty and cultural richness of the Balkans. We are delighted to welcome Milo to KSIM, and confident that his thoughtful, student-centred approach and global perspective will make a meaningful contribution to our students’ learning, and school community.

Ms. Nađa gained her Pre-school Teachers’ Certificate from the University of Kikinda, one of the best teacher training institutions in the Balkans. She works for KSI Montenegro since it’s opening in 2010. She has started working aside with international teacher for three years and after that she has been leading the class of 3-5 year olds on her own. Nadja has taken several professional development courses from the IB. Prior to teaching at KSI Montenegro, she has taught at the Montenegrin state preschool for four years, and year and a half at the orphanage in Bijela. Her experience, her dedication, creativity and responsibility have ensured a seamless fit into the unique ethos of Knightsbridge Schools International in Montenegro. Although she doesn’t have children herself, she sees her kindergarten learners as her own. Nadja is from Montenegro.

Originating from Canada, Nicole is a specialist Middle and High School Science teacher known for her ability to create interactive, hands-on learning activities that engage students with diverse learning styles and abilities. She began her teaching career in Winnipeg, Canada, and has since demonstrated her strengths as an international educator at schools in Guangdong, China, as well as at the American School of Guatemala in Guatemala City.  At Nicole’s previous schools, her strengths and abilities were highly praised for the ways in which she delivered integrated science classes and provided meaningful, hands-on learning experiences; showing real strength in the ways she enhanced understanding of key concepts, effectively used technology to improve student comprehension, and differentiated instruction to accommodate varied learning styles and language abilities.  Nicole is also a passionate environmentalist who enjoys spending time outdoors. She particularly loves finding new opportunities to explore as an experienced open water diver.

Reuben is an experienced international school teacher and leader. He prides himself on his work and demonstrates a strong commitment to his students’ achievements. His knowledge of various international curricula includes experience as an IB Continuum Leader, DP Business Management teacher, and mindfulness in schools instructor. With a Master’s degree (MA) in Education, he effectively applies educational theory to both classroom and school duties; student wellness also plays a significant role in how Reuben delivers his lessons, with a strong emphasis on ensuring each student feels safe in his classroom. He firmly believes that effective student learning is best achieved through real-life experiences, which he strives to incorporate into his business and humanities courses.  Reuben is also a keen guitarist and enjoys playing in school bands, and at various venues in the locations he has previously lived and taught, Surabaya and Bali. Originally from the United Kingdom, Reuben is moving to Tivat this summer with his wife, Caitlin. Both are avid travellers who love exploring new countries and the diverse cultures and experiences they provide.

Michelle (Shelly) is from the United Kingdom and has over ten years of primary classroom and leadership experience. Before transitioning into education, she spent the first ten years of her career as a Graphic Designer in London. Shelly is a highly creative individual who enjoys providing an interactive, ever-evolving learning environment to stimulate and support student learning.  Her previous schools have recognised the pride she takes in empowering students to appreciate their own progress and celebrate their achievements. She successfully collaborates with peers, prioritises teamwork, and fosters strong relationships based on mutual respect to ensure every child thrives. Promoting a healthy lifestyle and developing positive growth mindsets are also paramount in the way she establishes fruitful learning routines.  Shelly believes that a sense of humour is key in life and seeks to enjoy and invoke a sense of fun in all she does. She loves cooking, running, spending time with family, creating art, travelling, and especially enjoys trips to Cornwall to visit family. Shelly has a grown-up son named Cai, who is currently working in the Performing Arts after graduating from Dance and Drama College, and describes herself as an animated, driven character who loves leading a class and enjoys inspiring a love of learning.

We are delighted to introduce Stacy Pape, our DP & MYP English, Individuals & Societies, and Theatre/Drama teacher. With over 20 years of international teaching experience across the United States, Germany, Japan, and most recently Egypt, Stacy brings a wealth of interdisciplinary knowledge and a deep passion for meaningful, globally minded education.

Stacy holds degrees in Theatre and Education, as well as two MAs in Anthropology from Brandeis University and the University of Chicago. Her academic background, coupled with experience as an anthropologist, theatre director, and university lecturer, has shaped a rich approach to education – one that is inquiry-driven, collaborative, and rooted in cultural awareness. Throughout her career, she has taught a wide range of subjects, including Humanities, English, Theatre, EAL, and IB History and Anthropology.

At the core of Stacy’s teaching philosophy is a commitment to cultivating curiosity, empathy, and critical thinking. She is known for creating dynamic classroom environments where students are encouraged to ask questions, engage with real-world issues, and explore diverse perspectives. Her lessons often incorporate themes of social and environmental justice, equity, and global citizenship – values that align strongly with the IB mission and KSI’s vision.

In her previous roles, Stacy has served as a department head, curriculum designer, mentor, and IB Extended Essay and CAS Service Learning Advisor. She is also highly skilled in differentiated instruction, ensuring that learners of all backgrounds are both supported and challenged. Her commitment to academic excellence and student well-being has earned her praise from colleagues and leaders alike, who describe her as intelligent, empathetic, and deeply committed to student success. Stacy is recognised for her thoughtful instructional planning, creative energy, and willingness to go above and beyond for both her students and the wider school community.

Outside the classroom, Stacy is a lifelong learner, passionate traveler, and outdoor enthusiast. We are delighted to introduce Uroš Košutić, one of our as a Year 5 Classroom Teachers. Originally from Belgrade, Uroš brings nearly a decade of international teaching experience, having lived and worked in Thailand for the past eight years.

Uroš’s journey into education was shaped by his earlier career as a professional footballer, playing in the Serbian SuperLiga. This experience instilled in him a strong work ethic, a team-first mentality, and high expectations – for both himself and those around him – qualities that have seamlessly translated into his classroom practice. Combining his background in sports with a deep commitment to holistic education, Uroš is passionate about developing the whole child – academically, socially, and emotionally.  As an educator, Uroš is recognised for his compassionate and proactive approach. He fosters an inclusive, supportive, and motivating learning environment where every student feels seen, valued, and empowered to succeed. His teaching philosophy centres on connecting learning to real-life experiences, encouraging curiosity and resilience, and preparing students not only for academic achievement but also for life beyond the classroom.

In his previous teaching roles, Uroš has taken on leadership responsibilities, including serving as Primary English Coordinator. In this role, he developed and introduced impactful initiatives and inclusive teaching practices that were widely recognised and contributed meaningfully to school-wide improvement in teaching and learning. Former leaders and colleagues describe him as passionate, enthusiastic, and consistently willing to go above and beyond. His strong work ethic, collaborative mindset, and commitment to continuous professional growth have made him a respected and valued member of every school community he has been part of.

Outside the classroom, Uroš remains closely connected to his passion for sport. A UEFA C-licensed coach, he enjoys playing and coaching football, organising tournaments and trips, and leading extracurricular programmes that inspire students to become motivated, active team players. He also founded and ran a youth sports coaching academy in Thailand, reinforcing his dedication to children’s physical and personal development.
